Philips HR1854 Juicer
When I buy equipment for my kitchen I want it to be functional, easy to use and look good. If my new appliance also saves me time then I’m going to love it. Time is a big problem nowadays with our busy lifestyles and I know myself that I don’t spend anywhere near the time that I did 20 years ago preparing and cooking healthy foods.
I hate to think how many tasteless ready meals and fattening takeaways end up being eaten in my house instead of the healthy carefully prepared meals that used to be served. That’s why I think that having a fruit juicer in my kitchen is important. At least we can get some of our fruit and veg 5 a day made up quickly and easily into a drink that is good for us and isn’t fattening.
I used to have one that took forever to make the juice. I had to peel and chop every bit of fruit and vegetable before I could start juicing. The amount that came out after so much effort wasn’t that rewarding and sometimes it was easier to throw some fruit into our lunchboxes instead of starting the day with healthy home made fruit juice.
Then the manufacturers came up with models that will take in whole fruits without peeling and chopping like the Philips HR1854 Juicer pictured on the left. I’ve got to admit that it doesn’t fit all of my criteria because it isn’t as good looking as some, but it has some pretty neat features that I’m sure are more important than looks.
Philips HR1854 Juicer Features
- Extra large feeding tube for whole fruit
- Two speed settings enabling you to juice soft or hard fruit and vegetables easily
- You can clean removeable parts in a dishwasher
- Recipe booklet with 10 fruit juice recipes
- Foam seperator for clear or cloudy juice
- A 700 ml jug that keeps juice fresher longer
- It’s extra large capacity allows you to juice continuously
Lots of good features there but what about customer feedback?
Overall the feedback is good. Several buyers mention that it isn’t too noisy as some machines are, one lady said she had lost weight without trying and others said that it was good value.
The bad feedback was mainly about the parts that you can’t put in a dishwasher being difficult to clean. However, one lady said that using a toothbrush to get into the tiny nooks and crannies helps and another lady said that it was easy to clean if you did that straight afterusing. One gentleman was giving feedback on this model because he had bought it for his girlfriend and he compared it unfavourably with the more expensive model that he owns himself. Of course his model should be better if it costs more duh!!
